police said these suspects had to be familiar with this store. from the outside it looks like all they carry is furniture. but these rob berz burst through these door, went right to the jewelry counter and started spraying employees with pepper spray. picking up the pieces, the owner of the home consignment center in danville is cleaning up after a violent home robbery. >> there was the noise of loud booming over all the cases. i didn't know if it was gunfire or glass breaking. >> they quickly figured out the store was being robbed. three people burst into a store while people shopped, sprayed the employees with pepper spray, grabbed some merchandise and wen outside to a waiting van. it all happened in about a

masks so they were very well hidden. employees who went to the hospital are home. reporting live in danville, nbc bay area news. >> i've been in that place lots of times, jean. that's really stunning it happened there. an attack happened at the park regency apartments on oak road. a man pr teetending to sell car cleeping service gained his way into a woman's home and then attacked her. he was described as six feet tall with a full beard. recently a bay point man was arrested and attempted to attack three other women in that same complex. police say those attacks are not at all connected to this latest assault. the heat is on the rise, but it's not just a warning about rising temperatures. a heat wave could lead to a

you betcha. with the number of burglaries rising, when the mercury spikes. kimberly terry is live in oakland and cops say no matter how hot it is, you have to keep those windows closed. >> reporter: that's absolutely right, jessica. while police will not confirm that crime goes up, they say the number of calls they get increases, especially the number of alcohol-related calls when the temperature rises. they also say criminals are looking for more opportunities and that happens when warm weather occurs because, of course, as you mentioned, open windows and unlocked doors. >> it's beautiful. kind of strange for this time of the year, but it's so nice and hot and i have to get out and enjoy it. >> reporter: after such a cool summer, it wasn't hard to find people out enjoying a rare day of sunshine. >> it's kind of late, though. real late. >> it's the best weather we ever had in the whole year. >> reporter: with the warm

weather comes opportunity for criminals to take advantage. and with the next couple of days expected to be even hotter, police want to remind residents to be on guard. >> there are people that live -- they're sheltered, so to speak, and they think it can never happen to them, they can leave their windows down, doors open or unlocked or leave the windows open in their car when they go in a shopping mall, but there are people who will steal from you without thinking twice. >> reporter: he says while most of us like to relax on a warm, sunny day, criminals don't take time off. >> be cognizant of your surroundings, be aware, turn your head around. people who perform crimes don't lining to be seen. >> while they were out soaking up the sun, most admit there are risks with the warm-up. >> you want to enjoy the weather, but at the same time you have to be mindful of the necessary precautions.

murderer albert greenwood a choice of how he wants to die. they said, though, they should give brown another choice: life. >> we're asking why now? why the rush to execute now? the attorney general and rushing this process and creating legal chaos. there is an enormous amount of questions and in securities that vn been answered. >> brown was sentenced in 1992 for raping susan jordan in california. he will be the first inmate executed in almost five years. judge fogel had halted all executions in 2006 to take a closer look at the three-drug lethal injection process and see if inmates were suffering extreme pain during executions. >> here the stakes are too high and there are too many uncertainties for this to continue. the court needs to stop the proceedings so we can have a careful review of all the problems and public concerns over lethal injection.

typically we'd be in the low 50s with fog rolling again. let's take you over to oakland and you'll see almost 70 degrees. there's a beautiful view looking west to san francisco there. no wind in oakland now. look at san jose. the wind is light, calm right now, and we will continue to see our temperatures slowly dropping into the 50s and 60s overnight. not much of a cool nature at all around the bay area. so for tomorrow morning, it's going to be a warm start. most of us waiting up in the 60s. we'll get hot temperatures inland spots well into the 90s and unfortunately at lunchtime. we'll probably see a few more as we get to saturday and sunday. continuing the trend that started today, we're going to see more areas popping up into the 90s tomorrow, especially san jose heading into the tri area, and then as we head to sunday and monday, i think monday will

be the hottest day we see in this heat spell, getting close to 100 degrees around livermore or concord, record-breaking territory come monday afternoon. highs climbing up into the upper 90s around san jose. you'll find mostly 60s. if you're living in the foothills area of east bay and south bay, you may as well wake up to temperatures in the 70s by morning. 80s and 90s across the board. 85 san francisco, low 90s for saturday. then you find some upbeat monitor. your hottest days of the week will be coming as you unravel. we'll probably just see slow cooling heading to wednesday next week. >> ilts got to be hot on those fields for the kids. >> they hydrated.
